Mozambique has safari parks developing to rival the country’s now very sophisticated beach offerings. This includes inland sands. On Lake Niassa’s golden shores sits Nkwichi Lodge(picturd, www.mandawilderness.org; from $320 full-board), notable also for being among 100 properties in Africa supporting Pack for a Purpose (www.packforapurpose.org). This charitable initiative – launched 18 months ago and hitting a convincing momentum – asks travellers to use luggage space to carry in supplies to disadvantaged communities all over the world. Nkwichi Lodge distributes its donations to a local maternity clinic.
