New York-based Lisa Lindblad is one of the industry’s more reliably au courant specialists – with one foot in the world of rarefied luxury and the other in that of get-there-first adventure, she’s the resource for the authentic, surprising experiences everyone wants these days.
Now she’s launched a very clever online service targeted at the sophisticated traveller in search of value: Willing Foot (www.willingfoot.com; itineraries from $499) is a shoppable website of standalone trips, tours and itineraries organised by destination, type, season or length, ranging from a morning or afternoon to two weeks. Fill your cart with itineraries in Paris, the Pays Basque and the Pais Vasco for 11 days of contemporary art galleries, surfing excursions and cooking lessons. Or, if you’re already in Sri Lanka and want an insiders’ 48 hours in Colombo, log on and book a Willing Foot guide: Lindblad has enlisted her preferred ones across the globe, from Uttranchal Pradesh to Marrakech. The idea is to mix and match; similar trip recommendations and even reading lists are all part of the navigation.
