There’s a newsy début from Six Senses in the Maldives, where Six Senses Laamu (www.sixsenses.com; from $600) incorporates a healthy dose of fun into the wellness proceedings that are more typical of its destination spas. These include an over-lagoon bar that rocks into the wee hours, a “chocolate studio” serving crêpes by the turquoise sea, and surfing lessons to tackle the 7ft break directly off Ohuveli Island’s lagoon (Laamu and Thaa central atolls harbour particularly good surf; champagne-taste waveriders can expect a surge in Maldives-centric chatter now that Six Senses has set up shop).
