A tranquil, low-rise haven opens in Cairo

In Cairo, there’s a new tranquil, low-rise haven amid the high-rise chaos of the city centre. Kempinski Nile Hotel (www.kempinski.com; from €200) is set to open next month in a palatial riverside building that ticks all the boxes: opulent décor by Pierre-Yves Rochon (but in a more pared-down manner than has become expected of this designer), private dining rooms (but also a laid-back café with tranquil garden seating), spa services and access to the timeless city’s top guides.
