High spirits go hand-in-hand with great adventures, and at seaside Branscombe in Devon, Johnny Jeffrey has launched a country extension to the Disappearing Dining Club concept (pop-up restaurants in private homes and unusual venues). On set weekends, he and partner Alan open up their home, The Great Barn (www.disappearingdiningclub.co.uk/thegreatbarn), to paying foodies. At a cost of £1,500 for three couples (with not all rooms en suite, best if a group of friends), the two-night weekend revolves around Johnny’s spectacular cooking and mixologist skills, the conversation flowing fast by virtue of Black Cow Vodka (blackcow.co.uk) – a smooth-as-cream tipple made locally from fresh milk (the drink, launched in May, has already found its way on to Mark Hix menus in London).
