In London, final-year students of Chelsea College of Art’s Graphic Design course, the class of 2011, have teamed up with Pedlars, the wonderfully eclectic lifestyle emporium, to produce a series of limited-edition prints.
Eleven students have each designed a print that forms the basis of a pop-up shop inside Pedlars’ Notting Hill flagship store. The selling exhibition (framed prints, £111; unframed prints, £59) runs for two weeks from April 18 and will raise funds for the Chelsea Graphic Design degree show. To further promote the work, it will also be displayed concurrently on the Pedlars website until the very limited numbers run out.
Judging by previous years’ shows, the standard of work is very high. Although it is very much a group showing, standout entries come from Dave Russell, Dan Cottrell and Julian Shaw (pictured in that order) and, as this batch of graduates are just beginning their careers, this could be your opportunity to own an original print by the next Stefan Sagmeister or Paula Scher.
If this gives you a taste for work by up-and-coming graphic designers, the final degree show itself runs for one week from June 18 at the Chelsea College of Art campus on Millbank.
